Press Release Regarding the Visit of Bernard Membe, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, to Turkey

H.E. Mr. Bernard Membe, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, will pay a visit to Turkey on 7-9 May 2014 upon the invitation of H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

During the first bilateral official visit at Foreign Ministerial level from Tanzania to Turkey, Minister Davutoğlu and his counterpart will discuss bilateral and regional issues. Thereafter the delegation will have various contacts in Ankara on 8 May 2014 and meet Turkish businessmen in Istanbul on 9 May.

Our bilateral relations have entered a phase of rapid progress with Tanzania, one of the prominent countries of East Africa, hosting the East African Community and a model in its region with its stability and democratic practices, since our Embassy in this country became operational at the beginning of 2012. Tanzania is also expected to announce its intention to open its Embassy in Ankara during the visit.

This visit will constitute a concrete result of the developing relations and increasing bilateral contacts of Turkey, a strategic partner of the African Union, with the countries of the African continent in recent years and contribute to further developing bilateral relations between Turkey and Tanzania in every area.
